THE CULTURE WAR How the West Lost Its Greatness Was Weakened From Within edition by Hanne Herland Religion Spirituality eBooks
This book was extensively researched and is loaded with historical information that explains the origin and development of political correctness and the culture war we are now facing. For example, there are 24 pages of references at the end of the book that reveal just how extensive the author's research was. She examines the rise and decline Western culture from many different viewpoints: philosophical, religious, historical, spiritual, scientific, and political. Some basic assumptions by those on the left and the right are clarified in such passages as: "The current nihilist ideology views man as inherently good and traditional morality as a negative structure that prohibits man from liberties. If something goes wrong, man is not responsible, but society is at fault. Consequently, society needs constant reforms away from its traditional values. In stark contrast, religious thought perceives man as faulty, torn between good and evil. It is his personal responsibility to choose to do justice and that which is right." It helps to understand that liberals and conservatives are operating on fundamentally different assumptions, and the more we understand what those assumptions are, and how they have evolved over time, the better we can appreciate the battle of values between the left and the right.
Overall the book was very educational and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to gain a deeper understanding of the history and development of political correctness and the culture war.

THE CULTURE WAR How the West Lost Its Greatness Was Weakened From Within edition by Hanne Herland Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
Why the Western sivilization fall.
Very good book.
I enjoyed reading this books quite a lot. The author does a great job with intergrating theology, philosophy and history. She also has read very widely in many different fields. It is very impressive to see the wealth of information this book provides, as well as how many different topics and disciplines are put together into coherent arguments. A great book which all people who care about Western culture should read.
A really excelllent book that explains what went wrong with Western culture, and how we lost our values - respect, decency and honesty - as we are now engulfed in ethnic clashes, hatred between groups, the break down of trust and financial greed. The author argues that the de-Christianization of the West has its root cause in the Christian communities lack of interest in fighting for the values of the revolutionary message of Jesus. The Christian communities are isolated and do not participate much in secular debate, often permeated by attitudes that run contrary to the openness, justice and mercy found in the original Christian message. It is a ground breaking book that defends the Christian faith, yet points out how Christians often do not follow their Master. The best and most honest I read in a long time. It describes the main problems of our time and it also prescribes the solution. Brilliant!
Another fantastic book from Hanne Herland. It is so good to read a book that is not full of propoganda and political correctness. People need to wake up and this book gives a clear picture on how this "Culture War" is unfolding. This is a revolutionary book that makes you realize how close we are to the down fall of the Western civilization. The book takes you through the philosophical development in the West after World War II, explaining how we completely changed our values and ended up with serious cultural stagnation in the West. The extreme-liberal movement has actively demonized traditional Western values, making that which is wrong right. Today free speech has become the right to bully others, freedom has become the right to agree with the current politically-correct elites. Liberals, Christians are other minorities are harassed and ethnic clashes and racial division dominate in society. What is especially great with this book is that is shows the way out – not through politics, but through looking at some of the values that used to dominate our thinking in the past Respect for others, to abstain from judgement, humility, kindness, justice. We need to respect international law again and the sovereignty of nations, and acknowledge that diversity and plurality is the beauty of it all.
Thanks again to Hanne Herland for this amazing book. I could not put it down!
