Once a Wallflower At Last His Love Scandalous Seasons Book 6 edition by Christi Caldwell Romance eBooks

An impoverished family in Surrey is braving a season in London, courtesy of the devious Aunt Agatha. Their survival depends upon Hermoine making a monetarially (I have just made this a real word) advantageous match. The small tippence she earns as a gothic novelist, under the nom de plum Michael Michaelmas (yes really) will not support her family: a worthless father held up in his library, the growing twins and her sister Elizabeth who suffered brain malady from fever that left her a virtual child, and she was raped and is now with child herself. To Hermoine, this is a research trip to learn the inner workings of a dark, brooding duke for her next novel 'The Nefarious Duke". Instead, she meets the light, charming Duke of Mallen. Sebastian is the opposite of what her publisher has instructed her to write about, so she writes about him. Who is this girl who writes on her dance card? He has to know-she's captivated him, even in the hideous bright yellow dress.

Through a series of chance meetings they build their relationship, he just has to kiss her. But she has deadlines with her publisher and with news of her family and identity are known. It all falls apart when Aunt Agatha orchestrates discovering the couple in a very compromising position. The obligatory marriage occurs. What follows is a period of individual/seperate growth and discovery that eventually leads to enlightenment and love.

This is a compelling storyline that brings on many emotions, to feel the highs and lows. Christi Caldwell is master storyteller. Her character development and physical descriptions are impeccable (as usual). This is the another great series by one of our favourite authors.

Once a Wallflower At Last His Love Scandalous Seasons Book 6 edition by Christi Caldwell Romance eBooks Reviews

This was an amazing book, I could not wait for Sebastian's story and this did not disappoint at all, he is just a captivating character, if you have not read the previous books in this series, do yourself a huge favor and do read them, they are all great books. I absolutely feel that I connected with both main characters Sebastian and Hermoine, I found myself laughing, smiling, and crying with them, I think it's so important for books to bring out all depth of emotions and Christi's books never disappoint. When reading this book it completely transports you to a different place and time in such a magical way.
I have read every book that Christi has written in this series and Heart of a Duke series, I think this one may be my new favorite, but then I generally think that after each book.
Thank you Christi for writing such a great book and taking me to a different world for a time!!!
Title Once a Wallflower, At Last His Love (Scandalous Seasons, book #6)
Genre Historical Romance/ Regency
Author Christi Caldwell
Why did I feel absolutely compelled to read this book when I've never before read this author, or even heard of her? I don't know why!!! But it was something almost supernatural that led me, and I am so happy that I followed this compulsion and purchased this novel. Within these pages there is a depth of emotion I seldom find and it is all wrapped up in superbly nuanced characters. Hermione and Sebastian are meant for each other and they feel it right from their first meeting but they are not astute enough to realize that this is true love. No, Hermione must envision the relationship as research for her novels and Sebastian knows there is a connection but he just can't figure out why he finds ways to keep meeting Hermione. And then of course there are tremendous roadblocks to their Happy-Ever-After. You will have some smiles and some tears but you will not put this book down until you have turned the last page. Way to go Christi Caldwell!
(I'm ready to delve into more of the Scandalous Seasons Series)
So we begin our story with Hermione and Elizabeth, two young ladies, devoted sisters whose biggest concern in life was whether or not young ladies paint or their evil governess. But in one blink of an eye everything is changed and for one of those sisters, their idyllic childhood has gone. Fast forward 11 years and now Hermione has to sacrifice everything to keep her family safe and in the process destroys the one thing that she wants so much.
Sebastian, Duke of Mallen is not a normal Duke; he doesn’t lie about and do nothing with his life. He is an honorable man who cares about his family and their happiness. Content remaining a bachelor, then a young lady catches his eye and everything changes.
And there we start Sebastian and Heromine’s rough and tumble relationship, until Hermione betrays Sebastian and damages his love for her. Their lives are forever tied but their relationship tumbles downwards at great speed…can anything save it???
The writing is flawless, the story is enchanting and there was not a plot hole to be found. I LOVE Hugh and Addie, but would quite happily throttle Aunt Agatha (the old bat).
Again I am blown away by the sheer talent and imagination of Christi Caldwell! Every book of hers that I read makes me think I have been born in the wrong time period and I end up wishing that I was a part of the book. So I give Once a Wallflower, At Last His Love a very well deserved 10 out of 10.
This authors books are touch and go for me, very repetitive characters, weird mannerisms, random shrieking, and so forth. I was looking forward to this book because of the duke and based on the overwhelming five star reviews I felt that it was worth the risk.

I was wrong.

With the first few chapters the author made certain that the lead female was not likable or relatable. Her personality was lacking, her description made me think of skeletor from that old 80s cartoon. She had this incredibly attractive, powerful duke drawn instantly to skeletor from one look. Their first interaction is him amused, drawn to her, etc while she’s incredibly rude, dismissive, etc. DNF, couldn’t force myself to read.

It’s not believable
