This is another great book by Carla Capshaw. I first read The Protector and was so pleasantly surprised... finally a Christian romance worth reading! I immediately bought the others in the gladiator series and was similarly impressed. I can't say enough good things about this author. Her themes are refreshing and filled with great insights. The characters actually talk to each other in realistic and meaningful ways! The plots keep moving and the main characters don't get hung up in endless, repetitive musings about their concerns. I love how straightforward her writing and her characters are. Bravo!

I have to admit that going into this book, I thought I wouldn't enjoy it. I like the historical time period of the Pioneer/old western style, but I think I have found yet another historical time period I love!

Carla Capshaw did such a wonderful job at drawing me into one of the most important times of our country. England is at war with the colonials who want to form their own nation and want freed from England. The heroine of this story, Elise Cooper, is a spy for the colonials. When one of her spies turned on her, she was forced to kill him or be turned over to the Brits. Soon, the man's brother shows up to seek revenge for the one who killed The Hawk. Nobody knew what his real reason for biing there was.

This book is full of secrets and romance as the hero and heroine fall madly in love and marry. So many secrets are held, and slowly they are revealed. In the end, Elise may just lose the one she holds most dear!

If you like romance, kissing, and sweet talk, you will love this book! I loved Drake! Wonderful book!

PLease read this book and also Carla Capshaws books called the Gladiators! It was completely worth my time. I hope it will be worth yours to!!!!!!!
Carla Capshaw's historical romance set during Revolutionary War times is a wonderful read, full of suspense and danger. Ms. Capsahw excels in creating real and urgent conflicts between fully drawn characters. Although this story is written for the inspirational genre, I recommend it for a general audience as well.
Wow...all I can say is...wow! Carla Capshaw brings them in with yet another homer ;) I Enjoyed the book, actually...I couldn't put it down!

If you haven't read her other books...go buy them right now!! I promise you won't regret it. If it is possible, they are even better than this!
I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. I have read some of this author's other work and enjoyed it pretty well, but I could not put this book down. I loved the period detail and the main characters. The espionage made the story exciting. The romance between the two main characters was a tad rushed, but I didn't care because I loved every bit of it!
